 | Which domains can be transferred? | |
 | VodaHost can facilitate the transfer of the following domains:
Auto verification or fax method
.com, .net, .cc, .tv, .ca
co.uk and .org.uk  (Nominet tag change required)
.org, .info, .biz, .us, .cn, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .cn, .tw, .jp and .in (EPP key required)
To create a transfer request, log into your eNom account, choose the menu option DOMAINS and then click transfer a domain name. Transfer method option descriptionsAuto
verification (Use for .com, .net, .cc, .tv, .ca, .co.uk and .org.uk,
.org, .info, .biz, .us, .cn, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .cn, .tw,
.jp and .in domains)
This is the paperless transfer option. A
verification e-mail is sent to the current registrant and
administrative contacts for each of the domains listed on the transfer
order. The verification email must be responded to for the transfer to
proceed to the registry for approval and release by the losing
registrar.
For EPP domains, (.org, .info, .biz, .us, .cn,
.com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .cn, .tw, .jp and .in) an
EPP/authorization key is required.
Note: For large quantities of
domains with the same registrant, the FAX transfer option may be a
better choice to avoid the necessity of approving to multiple emails. Fax

.us, .cn, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .cn, .tw and .in domains)
Fax transfers will now require additional
verification. In addition to eNom’s signed fax transfer form, you are
required to provide one of the following:
Notarized statementÂ
|
|
 |
 | My email address is wrong, can I still request a transfer? Can I use the FAX transfer option? | |
 | Yes.
This is the most feasible method for transferring a domain where the
whois information is current, other than the listed registrant and/or
administrative email contacts. There are two transfer methods offered
by eNom, one of which is the "fax" method. Fax
transfers require that you fax a SIGNED Form of Authorization (FOA) and
reliable evidence regarding your identity (see below).
The acceptable forms of physical identity are: • Notarized statement • Valid Drivers license • Passport • Article of Incorporation • Military ID • State/Government issued ID • Birth Certificate FAX
BENEFITS: This method offers the convenience of being able to verify
many domain names on one order without having to reply to a
verification email from eNom for each name. This transfer option would
be used for large orders where all of the domain names were registered
to the same registrant and/or administrative contact.Â
When a fax transfer order is created our interface
will provide fields for the current registrant contact info to
be entered into our system (this is the information that our system
will check against the current whois output, so it must be valid).Â
The fax transfer form (or FOA) will be automatically
generated once the transfer order has been fully submitted. The fax
form will contain your transfer order reference number, a list of all
domains included on the order and an area provided for the signature of
the registrant or administrative domain contact. Once FOA has been
signed, fax the form and the reliable evidence regarding your identity
to eNom (the number is on the form).Â
You may check the status of your transfer orders at any time by choosing menu option DOMAINS, my transfers. Click on the actual transfer order number link. This will open the transfer and display all domains on the order, and the unique status of each domain name.Â

 | What is the Auto Verification transfer option? Where do you send the transfer authorization email? | |
 | If you wish to transfer a domain to eNom and verify the request via email, choose the "auto-verification" option from the transfer initiation page. When an auto verification transfer order is submitted, a verification email will be sent to the registrant and administrative contact(s) for the domain(s). (Per ICANN Regulations, transfer verification will NOT be sent to technical, billing or other listed contacts for the domain.)The verification email contains a link to the transfer approval page. When you click on the transfer verification link, you will have the option to either approve or decline the transfer request. Only one response is required in order to verify the request. Note: The registrant contact takes precedence over the administrative contact for transfer verification. Once authorization has been provided, the other contact will not be able to approve or reject the request. |

 | What does EPP transfer option mean? This is for .org, .info, .biz, .us, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .cn, .tw, .jp and .in domains only. | |
 | EPP stands for Extensible Provisioning Protocol: An application layer client-server protocol for the provisioning and management of objects stored in a shared central repository. Specified in XML, the protocol defines generic object management operations and an extensible framework that maps protocol operations to objects. This method is used to verify .org, .info, .biz, .us, .cn, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .cn, .tw, .jp and .in domains only. This may change at any time depending upon registry requirements. When an EPP transfer order is created, an "authorization key" or "EPP key" is required for each domain name to be transferred. Per ICANN regulations, a verification email or fax transfer authorization is also required.Authorization (or EPP) keys/codes are generated by the current registrar and verified through the global registries for validity. |
|
 |
 | I'm trying to transfer an EPP domain, but there is no auth key, the other registrar is not EPP yet. What do I use for for the authorization key? | |
 | All ICANN accredited registrars are now EPP ready and can provide you with an EPP key for transfer. Please contact your current registrar again and request this key. These TLD's (.org, .info, .biz, .us, .cn, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .cn and .in) cannot be transferred without a valid authorization key. |

 | Why wasn't an extra year added to my domain's registration period when I transferred it to VodaHost Domains? | |
 | If a domain is renewed and then transferred within the first 45 days after the expiration date, an additional year will not be added to the domain's expiration date. This is a registry restriction and applies to all registrars. If a domain is transferred to VodaHost within the registry's auto-renew period (that first 45 days after you renew the expired domain) as the gaining registrar, VodaHost is charged for the transfer by the registry, thus we cannot issue refunds for domains that are transferred to VodaHost. If you wish to attempt to obtain a refund for your renewal, please contact the previous registrar to request a refund. As with VodaHost, most registrar's policies do not allow for refund of these domains. |
|
 |
 | Will I be charged if the transfer fails? It looks like I was charged twice for a transfer. | |
 | You are not charged until the transfer is actually a success. A pre-authorization for the total amount of the order is sent to the bank first. If one is looking at an online credit card statement, this pre-authorization can appear to be a charge, but it's not an actual charge yet. When the transfer completes, a charge is then sent to the credit card company for payment.   If it fails, we never send a charge against the pending pre-authorization request. All banks differ in how long the pre-authorization stays on the card, but it will automatically be removed by the bank when they do not get a charge from us. We do not have a way to force your bank to release funds earlier than their policy dictates. |

 |
 | Is there any reason why a transfer would be rejected? | |
 | The registries will not allow transfer of domains for the following reasons:Domains cannot be transferred within the first 60-days of registration. If a domain status listed as Registrar-Lock, Registrar-Hold, Registry-Hold, Redemption Period or Pending Delete. The Registrar of Record may deny a transfer request only in the following specific instances: Evidence of fraud UDRP action Court order by a court of competent jurisdiction Reasonable dispute over the identity of the Registered Name Holder or Administrative Contact No payment for previous registration period (including credit card charge-backs) if the domain name is past its expiration date or for previous or current registration periods if the domain name has not yet expired. In all such cases, however, the domain name must be put into "Registrar Hold" status by the Registrar of Record prior to the denial of transfer. Express written objection to the transfer from the Transfer Contact. (e.g. - email, fax, paper document or other processes by which the Transfer Contact has expressly and voluntarily objected through opt-in means) A domain name was already in “lock status provided that the Registrar provides a readily accessible and reasonable means for the Registered Name Holder to remove the lock status. A domain name is in the first 60 days of an initial registration period. A domain name is within 60 days (or a lesser period to be determined) after being transferred (apart from being transferred back to the original Registrar in cases where both Registrars so agree and/or where a dec |

 | What is the cost for a registrar transfer? Is there a fee for transferring a domain name? | |
 |
You are entitled to one "free" transfers. The"fee" to transfer a domain to VodaHost or between VodaHost accounts starts at US$8.14. Upon transfer completion, your domain's expiration date will have increased by one year.Example: If your domain expires on June 2, 2007, you will be charged for one year's renewal and the domain's expiration date is updated to June 2, 2008 upon transfer completion. |

 |
 | Is DNS hosting a name the same thing as transferring a name? | |
 |
No, DNS hosting means that you are leaving the name with another registrar and only using VodaHost's DNS services. |
|
 |
 | Once I transfer my name to you, does my time of renewal change? | |
 | When a domain is transferred between registrars, one year is added to the expiration date for the domain. The expiration date itself does not change or "start over." If your domain name is within the 45-day registry auto-renewal time frame, an additional year will not be added to the domain expiration. We recommend transferring before renewal, or waiting 45 days after renewal to make a transfer. Anything during the first 45 days will not have an additional year added to the expiration date for the domain.Note: Domains that are not yet 60-days old are not transferable between registrars. This is a registry restriction, not a regulation instituted by VodaHost.  |
|
 |
 | How long does it take to transfer my domain name to VodaHost? | |
 |
Per ICANN regulations, once the gaining registrar (VodaHost) has received transfer verification from the registrant or administrative contact for the domain(s), the losing registrar has five days to release the domain. If the domain is not released to by the current registrar within five (5) days the registry will automatically complete the transfer. IMPORTANT NOTE: The five day pending period begins once the losing registrar has been notified of the transfer request by the global registry. This typically occurs within 12-24 hours after the transfer has been approved by you or your client. You can view the date and time the transfer was approved from within your account. From the DOMAINS option, select "my transfers". Click the "Submit" button and your most recent transfer orders will display. The date and time under "Transfer Init Date" is the date and time the transfer was verified by either you or your client. The request for transfer was sent to the losing registrar within 24 hours of this date and time. If you wish to speed up the transfer process, you can contact the current registrar and request that they "ACK" (manually approve) the transfer at the registry level. (Note: Not all registrars are willing to ACK transfer requests.) For more information regarding the approval and rejection of domain transfers and registrar responsibilities, please refer to ICANN's Transfer Policy at... http://www.icann.org/transfers/policy-12jul04.htm. |
